Since 1962, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra has been the classical venue of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In its early stages, the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra was a group of musicians who just wanted to play classical music together, 35 members. From there it grew to the 72 musicians that sit on stage with us today!
We want to thank Dr. J.A. Graves and Dr. Tom Graves for making their dream a reality for us! Without them, we would not be here playing for everyone.
Peter Rubardt has earned wide acclaim for powerful and insightful performances that inspire passionate responses to symphonic music. This marks his sixth season as Music Director of the Gulf Coast Symphony, a position he also holds with the Pensacola and Meridian Symphonies. Throughout his career he has worked successfully to broaden and deepen the relationships between communities and their orchestras, leading to growing audiences and a broad base of support. A gifted speaker about music as well as a performer, he actively engages audiences and community groups in the appreciation of symphonic music. Also busy as a guest conductor, Rubardt recently debuted with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Alabama Symphony and the Augusta Symphony, among others.
