THE SYMPHONY GUILD

The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Guild is a support organization made up of individuals who enjoy and appreciate our Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. We actively seek to promote awareness of the orchestra throughout the coast communities. We raise money for the orchestra, provide services in connection with concerts and related events, and participate in patronage drives.

Anyone who is a season subscriber or annual fund contributor to the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra is encouraged to join.  Meetings take place in members’ homes or public locations on the first Wednesday of every month except August. Our socialization and refreshment time begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by a musical program and a business meeting.

The Guild will have several interesting fund-raising events and opportunities this year.  Due to popular demand, we now have limited copies of our best-selling cookbook, Encore! Encore! available. Well-known local artists did the artwork in the book, and it features historic Coast landmarks, many of which were destroyed by the storm.

We are looking forward to our Fourth Annual Symphony Book Fair on October 12-17, 2009, at the Prime Outlets Mall in Gulfport. We are actively seeking donations.  Any used books in good condition will be appreciated.  Please drop off your books at the Symphony office if possible, or call Ginny Hermetz at 228-832-4588 or Bernice Simmons at 228-864-2044 to arrange a pick-up.
The Guild also plans to have a Kaleidoscope of Homes on December 6, 2009. Plans are still in the making so be sure to watch forannouncements of this event.

As we do each year, Guild members will once again join with the Symphony Board of Directors in presenting the 22nd Annual Barbecue Under the Oaks in the spring. This is always a favorite event for the entire Coast.

For additional information about the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Guild or its activities, please call me at 228-896-1505 or the Symphony Office at 228-896-4276. We welcome new members who are interested in joining our efforts to support our orchestra!
