GULF COAST SYMPHONY GUILD
Betty Oswald, President
‘LET THE MUSIC MOVE YOU’………..
Since 1965, Symphony Orchestra Guild members have been inspired and moved into action by the magnificent performances of our Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra.
As our Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra celebrates its 10th Anniversary, we commend the members and director for the contributions they make to the understanding and appreciation of music by students throughout our coast.
Each new season our Guild’s mission is the same, that of providing financial support and increasing community awareness and appreciation by coast citizens of all ages. We accomplish this by fundraising projects, by serving at events when requested by the
Symphony Board and by actively participating in patronage drives.
We invite you to participate in one or more of the following Fundraising Guild projects:
- Our new project: ‘3’ Playing Card decks with 156 pictures of coast sites, historic sites (past & present), interesting homes & buildings. A ‘2’ deck card set is available for $20.00. Great for Bridge or other card games, coffee table conversation, & gifting. Call the Symphony Office at 228-896-4276 for information.
- Join us at the Peter Anderson Festival booth on Nov. 6th and 7th. Our ‘Encore, Encore’ cookbooks and Playing Card Sets will be for sale.
- Sunday, Dec. 5th is our Holiday Kaleidoscope of Homes tour in Ocean Springs. This year’s event will begin with a lunch served by Guild members at St. John’s Episcopal Fellowship Hall. Details of this event are forthcoming.
- Our 5th Annual Symphony Bookfair will take place within the first two months of 2011. Information for specific dates and location will be forthcoming. Your book donations are welcome now. Please bring your books to the Symphony Office or call Ginny Hermetz (228-832-4588) or Bernice Simmons ( 228-864-2044) to arrange a pick-up.
- Each spring the Guild joins the Symphony Board of Directors in presenting the Barbeque Under the Oaks, a coast favorite. The 23rd annual affair will be held March 26, 2011 at ‘Oaklawn’ in Pass Christian.
- The Guild is already working with the Symphony Board as we prepare to celebrate the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra’s ‘50th Anniversary’ on the Mississippi Gulf Coast’ in 2011-2012.
Guild members encourage everyone who believes that ‘music is the one element’ which universally produces joy and happiness among young and old alike, so join us at our monthly meetings for a social and refreshment time, along with a program by talented coast musicians, as we work together to support our orchestra! We welcome new members.
For additional information about the Guild or its activities, please call me at 228-818-8366 or the Symphony Office at 228-896-4276.
With your help, we will ‘Keep the Music Playing’!
